THREAD Show San Diego

The THREAD Show San Diego was a new and fun experience. It was so great seeing local beautiful talent and products.Browsing through and shopping local clothing, jewelry, and accessories is honestly a whole different feeling. You get to see the passion behind these designers, and know where it all comes from. It is the same thing when it comes to food. Walking through a Farmers Market and buying produce from local farmers makes you not only feel like you are doing good for the community, but it really does taste that much better.

Pretzel Crisps

The Pretzel Crisps table was the first table I saw walking into the event. I have seen them in stores, as well as tried similar products. Of course I had to a take a little sample. I have always enjoyed pretzels as a snack, especially paired with hummus or cream cheese. These are  seriously delicious pretzels, that are so crunchy and light.  She was kind enough to give me a reusable bag filled with one of each flavor as we were leaving the event. I will be snacking on Pretzel crisps for the weeks to come (if they last that long..), as well as offering them to my friends and family to try for themselves. The current favorite flavor of mine has to be the Buffalo wing. You get the zesty flavor of buffalo wing, while cutting major calories and grease.

Even Vegan

Stacked up in boxes were treats made by Even Vegan for the taking. I had the Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treat. I loved it! If you wouldn’t have seen the vegan stamp on the box, you wouldn’t have known that you were eating a baked good made with organic and vegan ingredients. There were a few different types of bars and cookies offered. I loved knowing that I was eating a healthy alternative to such delicious treats.

MNKR

MNKR caught our eyes with their “J’aime Tacos” T-shirts. The french language and tacos in one t-shirt is the perfect match for my husband and I. They are both two things that we are obsessed with. We both ended up buying a shirt, and I got a really great necklace as well. It is a mini spoon, fork, and knife on a chain. Isn’t that just perfect? I really loved their passion and personalities. They were so nice, and it was such a great feeling knowing that we helped to support their business, as well as finding items that fit perfectly into our lives.

Loulou Bijoux

Loulou Bijoux had some beautiful jewelry. The design is delicate, simple, and totally my taste. I absolutely love this bracelet. Food and jewelry in one piece, that is just magical.

Micha Design

Micha Design had some gorgeous pieces made with feathers and rope that really caught my attention. They are so intricate, and full of color.

Megy Puga

Megy Puga is known for designing pieces with Swarovski crystals. She makes an assortment of accessories, mostly leather brightened up and embellished with the crystals.

Hammered

These bracelets by Hammered, were another favorite of mine from the event. I loved how delicate they look, while having such beautiful messages on them. They are handmade in San Diego, CA, and each piece is just a little bit different.

We caught up with Alexa, who was one of the winners from our readers ticket giveaway.

I want to thank Elle Communications for the invite to the THREAD Show. It was a lovely Sunday spent learning all about local designers and fashion trends.

About Kristin

We are Antonio and Kristin. We are a couple in our 20's who are fueled by our passion for all things related to food, art, travel, and our rich heritages. We started this blog as an outlet to showcase our lives and adventures as we know them on both sides of the San Diego border. Kristin grew up in Orange County, and Antonio grew up in between San Diego and Tijuana. After we met in 2006, we knew that it was meant to be. Her education background is in Interior design, while his in Graphic design. We got married in the summer of 2010, and welcomed our first son Giovanni into this world later on that year. Follow us as we explore and discover both of our cultures through the cuisine, people, and places surrounding them.
