Festival de las Brasas, la Cerveza y el Vino
The end of the year is nearly approaching, and what a year it has been. We started our blog half way through 2011, and I can’t believe how wonderful it has been discovering new places and cuisine. I want to thank all of my readers for following and supporting Life & Food. It is such an amazing feeling to know that my posts are actually being read. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings, and the food adventures that it will take us on.

Festival de las Brasas, la Cerveza y el Vino

The Festival de Las Brasas was a wonderful day spent with family. We got to experience and taste the delicious cuisine from different restaurants in Tijuana. This Oyster will forever be a great memory in my mind. It’s 9 am, and I could easily eat quite a few of them at the moment.

Olive Oil & Thyme Muffins With Lemon Glaze

Olive Oil & Thyme Muffins With Lemon Glaze

These sweet and savory muffins were one of my favorite baked goods that I made this past year. I had a lot of people try out the recipe, and they ended up loving it. I am not the best baker in the world, so when something comes out delicious, I cherish it.

Mercado Hidalgo de Tijuana

Mercado Hidalgo de Tijuana

Visiting the Mercado de Hidalgo in Tijuana, was one of my favorite experiences this past year. If you still have not had a chance to go, please try and take the time to visit here. I can’t wait to go back, there is still so much more to be explored.

Oatmeal Horchata

Oatmeal Horchata

After going to Chef Marcela Valladolid’s book signing, and flipping through her new book ‘Mexican Made Easy’, I didn’t even know where to begin. There are so many recipes that I not only want to make, but that will also most likely bring back childhood memories for my husband. This healthier version of Horchata is definitely a staple in a refrigerator from now on.

Distinct Flavors of Baja

Distinct Flavors of Baja

The Distinct flavors of Baja post was another amazing day of food with friends. If you are looking for a couple of places to eat at in Tijuana, I suggest you visit if not all of these, at least one of them. I can still taste the pizza that I had at El Taller, and will be heading back there for another tasty meal.

Bonus: Chocoflan

Chocoflan

Here I go again with another delicious recipe from ‘Mexican Made Easy’. This chocoflan is really something else. I can honestly say that I have never made so many in my entire life. This rich and decadent cake will be a star at your next family gathering.
