Club Tengo Hambre

Club Tengo Hambre is a roving supper club that explores the food and wine of the Baja California region and beyond. From the renowned street side stands to its Baja Med cuisine and exploding wine scene in the Valle de Guadalupe, Club Tengo Hambre gives curated excursions of Baja California’s culinary offerings.

Club Tengo Hambre is the collective efforts of Bill Esparza, Jason Thomas Fritz, and Antonio and Kristin Díaz de Sandi, whose respective blogs, Street Gourmet LATijuanalandia, and Life and Food, have been widely recognized as some of the earliest and most influential voices covering Baja California’s cultural renaissance and emerging food and wine scene.

With unique relationships built over the years with Mexico’s best chefs, restaurateurs, bartenders, taqueros and vitners, Club Tengo Hambre offers culinary experiences that are one-of-a-kind. It’s our aim to celebrate both the social aspect of food in bringing people together and the rich food and wine scene in the Baja California region that has made it one of the world’s great foodie destinations.

How does one join this collective? We had an unforgettable time in Baja and can’t wait to go back. Are you accepting members?

I would LOVE to join the group going places in Baja, but I only have a SENTRI pass and not an actual passport. Is that adequate, and if not, how do I go about obtaining a passport and what does it cost? I am an American citizen, born in Minnesota, 63 years of age, lived in San Diego since 1973, spent lots of time in Baja but now have no “significant other” or friends who want to go there anymore, so I’m excited about your group! Thank you — Donna MacKersie, Imperial Beach

Hello Donna! Thank you so much for the interest in Club Tengo Hambre. A SENTRI pass is more than acceptable. There is a SENTRI line in the pedestrian border as well, that will take you right to the front of the line. :) . We hope to see you on one of our outings!
